Corporate overview
Lysigen is the lysin discovery and development subsidiary of Precisio Biotix Therapeutics, a US-incorporated developer of precision antibacterials. Lysigen focuses on lysins for topical, vaginal, lung, and prosthetic joint infections, with particular attention to infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria, both Gram-positive and Gram-negative.
Our work is built on LysiThru, our platform for the discovery, engineering, screening, and production of lysins. LysiThru lets us identify, optimize, and produce lysins rapidly and efficiently.
We hold significant intellectual property and proprietary know-how across lysin discovery, engineering, and production. Members of our scientific team trained in the laboratory of Vincent Fischetti at The Rockefeller University, where the therapeutic use of phage lysins was first developed.
Why lysins matter
Solutions to the resistance crisis
Lysins are different. Because they recognize specific features of a target organism's cell wall, they can be engineered to eliminate a chosen pathogen while leaving the surrounding microbiome intact. This is critical at skin and mucosal surfaces (dermal, vaginal, and respiratory), where a balanced microbial community is itself a defense against disease. Broad-spectrum antibiotics disrupt these communities and drive dysbiosis, which can prolong infection and invite recurrence.
Precision that protects the microbiome
This precision is also a commercial advantage. Microbiome-sparing, mechanism-differentiated products address large, underserved markets in dermatology, women's health, and respiratory care, where patients and clinicians want alternatives to broad-spectrum antibiotics.
